FAQs

How long are therapy sessions?

Individual sessions are typically 45–50 minutes, while couples sessions are usually 50–60 minutes. At times, longer sessions (around 90 minutes) can be helpful—especially for intensive couples work or family sessions. I tailor the length of our time together to what best supports your needs and relationship.

How long does therapy usually last?

Here’s the good news and the bad news: there’s no set timeline for therapy.

The length of therapy depends on what you’re hoping to get out of it. Some people come for short-term therapy to work through a specific challenge, while others stay longer-term to explore deeper patterns and build more lasting change.

We’ll keep checking in along the way to make sure therapy feels helpful and aligned with your goals. My goal is to ensure that the work we do together helps you build tools and insights that you can reach for far beyond our sessions.

Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?

I offer both virtual sessions via a secure tele-health platform and in-person sessions in New York City.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly. However, many insurance plans offer partial reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services. I can provide you with a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.

Helpful questions to ask your insurance provider:

Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed?

Is there a deductible I need to meet first?

How do I submit claims for reimbursement?

What is your cancellation policy?

I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice to avoid being charged the full session fee. I understand that emergencies happen and will always do my best to accommodate when possible.

What if we aren’t the right fit?

Therapy is deeply personal, and finding the right therapist is arguably the most important part of the process. If we discover that we’re not the best fit, I’ll be happy to help connect you with a trusted colleague or resource who might better suit your needs. Your well-being and growth are my top priorities — even if that means helping you find support elsewhere.

What is experiential therapy?

Experiential therapy is a hands-on approach that goes beyond talking about issues intellectually. In experiential sessions, we slow down and tune into what’s happening in the moment — both in your mind and body. This helps us uncover patterns that may feel automatic and create new emotional experiences that support growth and healing.

I primarily use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with couples and families, and with individuals I draw on emotionally focused, experiential, and somatic approaches to help clients feel more connected to themselves and others (ACT, DBT, Gestalt, and EFIT).

What types of payments do you accept?

I use Simple Practice, a secure and easy-to-use platform for scheduling and payments. I accept credit cards, FSA, and HSA. If you need to pay with another method, just let me know during our consult—I’ll do my best to accommodate it!

How do I get started?
