“Emotion colors your world and tells you what matters, helps you create meanings, creates expectations.”

— Sue Johnson

WHO I AM

Katya Gruzglina, LMFT (she/her)

Life often teaches us—explicitly and implicitly—that certain feelings aren't okay to have.

So we push them down, hide them, or try to reason them away. But emotions don’t disappear—they show up in other ways: through anxiety, depression, outbursts, shutting down, or patterns like compulsivity, addiction, or self-sabotage.

Instead of avoiding or overriding these signals, you’ll learn to slow down and listen.

I work with couples navigating relationship issues, individuals living with depression and anxiety, and those exploring questions of identity, sexuality, and what it means to show up as the truest version of yourself.

As an LGBTQIA+ affirming, trauma-informed therapist, I welcome those in non-traditional relationships, including ethical non-monogamy (ENM), and offer a space where all parts of you are seen and supported.

My Approach

You can expect me to be active in our work together.

We’ll get curious about what your emotions are really asking for, and what they’re trying to protect or communicate. By honoring and making space for them, we open the door to healing, emotional movement, and a deeper sense of flexibility—so you can feel more present, more connected to yourself, and able to tolerate a wider range of the human experience.

My approach is rooted in evidence-based, experiential models of therapy. For couples, I practice Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which you can read more about here. For individuals, I adapt Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and somatic modalities —all empirically supported methods that help you tune into your body, notice what you’re experiencing in the moment, and relate to your emotions with more compassion, clarity, and choice.

These models help us move beyond intellectual insight and into deep emotional shifts, so you’re not just thinking about change—you’re experiencing it in real time.
